Chuck Riley

Representative Chuck Riley was born and raised in Illinois where he ran his father’s farm from age nine until college. He has attended Mt. Vernon High School, the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. In 1958, Representative Riley joined the U.S. Air Force where he co-designed the interior of Air Force One and updated Russian maps for Strategic Air Command using U2 spy plane photos. During that time he also attended the Army Language School. His active duty service ended in 1961. Since then, Representative Riley has worked in a variety of capacities in both the public and private sectors across the United States. Those positions and duties included: Systems Analyst/Project Manager at Southern Illinois University where he developed a student information database, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (programmed payroll and personnel systems), Santa Barbara County (project leader of property tax collection, registrar of voters database, and superior court case systems), Blue Cross of Oregon (project manager developing claims processing system), Blackwell North American (manager of systems and programming), and First Interstate Bank-Oregon (lead analyst for general ledger and checking account systems). He also founded Chuck Riley Computer Consulting and as a small business owner and consultant, Chuck helped businesses and non profit organizations, large and small, run effectively and economically. Representative Riley and his wife Katie, have four grown children and one grandchild. He is a member of both the Hillsboro and Forest Grove Chambers of Commerce, a member of the Political Affairs Committee at the Oregon Progress Forum and was a Precinct Person & House District Leader until filing for office. In 2004, he was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in where he worked to fully fund Oregon’s schools, reduce healthcare costs, combat the methamphetamine epidemic, and reform the payday loan process. Representative Riley was re-elected in 2006 to serve in the 74th Legislative Assembly and he is excited to work hard on behalf of his constituents in House District 29.
