Barker leads opponent by 23%, poll shows
August 7, 2012
ALOHA- Rep. Jeff Barker (D-Aloha) has a big lead over his opponent, according to a July poll of likely voters. Barker leads 55-32% in a survey of 500 likely voters in Oregon House District 28 conducted by GBA Strategies earlier this summer. After a comparison of positive descriptions of both candidates, Barker led 60-33%.
According to the poll, House District 28 remains a thoroughly Democratic district, with President Barack Obama leading Republican Mitt Romney by a twenty percent margin, a spread similar to his margin of victory in 2008.
A memo accompanying the poll results summarized the results of the poll succinctly, saying, “Simply put, HD 28 offers Republicans no opportunity for victory.”
HD 28 joins a growing list of safe Democratic districts where House Republicans and Republican political action committees have expended thousands of dollars in seats that are unwinnable, highlighting the strong position of House Democrats this election.
