Kitzhaber Launches TV Ad – “Looking Forward”
July 29, 2010
Portland, Oregon – John Kitzhaber’s campaign for Governor today released its first television ad of the General Election. The 60-second spot entitled “Looking Forward” will air beginning today in Portland, Eugene, Bend, and Medford on major networks and cable channels.
“I want voters to know that I’m running for Oregon,” said Kitzhaber. “I grew up here and I know where we’ve been and where we need to go as a state to create a better future for our children. The passion and knowledge I have isn’t something you can get from just shaking hands as you’re running for office. You get it from getting to know people over time, from shared struggle and accomplishment, and I’m the only candidate who brings this experience in the race to be Oregon’s next governor.”
Transcript:
John Kitzhaber:
“This isn’t about being a Democrat, or being a Republican, or being an Independent. It’s about being an Oregonian.
“I have a great love for this state. I was raised here…had amazing opportunities. And I’m worried about the future of the state – about whether or not our children will have the same opportunities that I had.
“There have to be things you’re willing to fight for – and there have to be things you’re willing to lose for.
“Here we’ve got a state with incredible natural resources, with wonderful, innovative people and we have a ten percent unemployment rate – and it doesn’t have to be that way. But we can’t move beyond that by continuing to cling to the past. We’ve got to start reaching for the future.
“My main job as governor is to create jobs for you. We need to let the world know that Oregon is open for business.
“If we can’t put Oregon back to work we can’t make investment in our kids for the future.
“This campaign is different - I’m not just asking for your vote; I’m asking for your help.”
