Senator Ron Wyden Fights to Extend Critical Unemployment Assistance to 60,000 Oregonians
July 20, 2010
Continuing his longstanding effort to fight on behalf of out-of-work Oregonians, today Senator Ron Wyden joined his Democratic colleagues in the U.S. Senate in fighting to pass an extension to critical unemployment assistance. These benefits will help 60,000 Oregonians and more than 3 million Americans put food on the table and make ends meet in tough economic times.
Senator Wyden has been on the front lines of this fight for some time. Back in February, he stressed the importance of these extensions and vowed to do what it takes to get them through: "For people that are getting hammered in this economy, trying literally to figure out from their kitchen table and their living rooms how they're going to get by, this legislation is a lifeline."
With the unemployment assistance secured, Senator Wyden is rolling up his sleeves and continuing the fight to put Oregon back to work.
