Democratic Party of Oregon Hires Brad Martin, New Executive Director
Longtime Political Activist Brings Over Fifteen Years of Democratic Party Leadership to Position
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
After an extensive search, the Democratic Party of Oregon is pleased to announce the hiring of its new Executive Director, Brad Martin.
"Oregon has a strong reputation for combining grassroots activism and highly professional campaigns at the county and state level," said Martin. "I'm excited to join Oregon's Democratic team as we look forward to 2014. Together, we'll hold the seats of Senator Jeff Merkley, Governor John Kitzhaber, and our Democratic Congressional delegation, keep our majorities in the Oregon State House and Senate, and elect great Democrats at all levels across the state."
Brad Martin brings over fifteen years of experience in Democratic Party leadership positions, including three years as the Democratic National Committee's Northwest Political Director, where he worked with Governor Howard Dean's team to build up state parties and local activists across the Northwest region, and twelve years as Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party. In 2004, during his tenure, Montana Democrats won back the governor's office and control of the State House and Senate.
"Brad's political savvy and passion for grassroots organizing make him an excellent fit for Oregon," said Chair Meredith Wood Smith. "We couldn't be more pleased about this."
Brad Martin, who starts on Feb. 13, replaces previous Executive Director Trent Lutz (May 2007 - December 2012), who has taken a position as Chief of Staff for the Oregon State House Majority Office.
