Our 2012 First Quarter State Central Committee weekend will be a two-day event from Saturday, February 25th to Sunday, February 26th at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon.

Join us for a great night networking and socializing while supporting the Lane County Democrats and the Democratic Party of Oregon!
We'll be gathering at 6pm the Agate Alley Laboratory - 2645 Willamette St, Eugene, OR 97405 - to enjoy live acoustic music by Chris Anderson, delicious hors d'oeuvres, and even better company! Don't miss this chance to connect with other active Democrats in your area and some of your local leaders.
Tickets are just $22 per person, or $20 for DPO President's Council, Capitol Circle and Grassroots Donors, DPLC monthly donors, and student Democrats. Buy your ticket here before 5pm on Thursday, February 23rd!
We'll also be raffling off some great prizes to benefit the Democratic Party of Lane County, including a signed Defazio beer glasses with local brews, a connoisseur wine basket, and a collection of John F. Kennedy collector's memorabilia.
Lunch Ordering
There will be a hour lunch break between activities on both Saturday and Sunday during which boxed lunches will be provided for those who pre-ordered. Lunch ordering is now closed.
Sunday Schedule
Caucus and Committees will meet in the morning, and the SCC will meet for general business in the afternoon.

Caucus Public Presentations 10:30 - 11:15: Current and Future Issues of the GLBT Movement: A Panel Discussion with the DPO's GLBT Caucus Join this panel of Oregon experts for a discussion around transgender issues, the military and repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, marraige equality on the ballot, as well as the GLBT Caucus's structure and planning. There will be time for audience questions and answers at the end of the discussion. 10:30 - 11:30: DPO Health Care Caucus Presentation and Discussion: Single-Payer Health Care in Oregon Please join us for a presentation with Dr. Hank Elder (Psychiatrist, MAHD, Physicians for National Health Program) about the background on and justification for a single payer health care system in Oregon, followed by a discussion of the advocate groups in Oregon and their strategies for pursuing single payer/universal health care, and lastly but very not least a forum on the Occupy Movement's goals and strategies for single payer/universal health care. 10:30 - 12:00: What Has the Oregon Legislature done for Education, and What Else Could It Have Done?: A Presentation and Discussion with the DPO's Education Caucus Legislative leaders will speak on the progress of education legislation for the Interim Session 2012 in Salem (Early Childhood, OEIB, Virtual Schools, and Higher Education). Guest speakers will include: Representative Michael Dembrow (Higher Education, Virtual Schools Governance, Education Ways & Means, OEIB ), Representative Alyssa Keny-Guyer (Early Childhood Education), Susan Barrett (parent group member following the following the Oregon Education Investment Board hearings), and more. There will be a question and answer session and time for audience discussion with the presenters at the end. |
