Marion County Democrats: Crossing the Aisle for Hunger
The Democratic and Republican parties of Marion County have put party politics aside, joining together to sponsor a food drive to benefit Marion-Polk Food Share and our community at large.
We will kick off this drive with an event on the State Capitol steps Friday, September 3, 2010 at 3:00PM with featured speakers Senate President Peter Courtney (D-11) and Jackie Winters (R-10); both have been pioneers in our state’s efforts to fight hunger. Other speakers include Chairman Rick Hartwig of the Marion County Democratic Party and Chairman Wayne Brady of the Marion Republican Party. Food donations will be accepted at the events. So bring some food and join us to kick-off this community event!
The food drive will run from September 3rd to October 4th.
Official drop off sites will include:
- Marion-Polk Food Share, 1660 Salem Industrial Drive Northeast
- Marion County Democratic Headquarters, 250 Liberty Street SE
More drop off sites will be announced at the event.
